Claudis Lee “Buck” Willis

Claudis Lee “Buck” Willis, 84, formally of Brownsville, KY, died Monday, April 1, 2013 at Forest Hill Health and Rehab Center, East Moline. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 12th at Messiah Lutheran Church, Port Byron.  Burial will be in Kentucky at a later date. Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron is handling arrangements.
    Claudis was born July 19, 1928 in Butler County Kentucky, the son of Virge and Ora (Phelps) Willis.  He married Mary Marie in 1947 and had a daughter, Mildred Marie. In 1959 he married Della Marie Elmore, they also had a daughter, Cathy Marie. On January 7, 1976, he married Marie Deloris Florian, she died in 1998.
    Buck was a retired Auto Upholsterer, having been in in the auto upholstery business for 50 years. He owned his own shop in Tucson, AZ for 30 years, “Buck’s Trim and Top Shop”. His claim to fame was doing upholstery work on the “Bat Mobile”.  He served in the United States Coast Guard, and was a member of the Fraternal order of Eagles in Tucson, AZ. Buck enjoyed spending time with friends, dancing, fishing, flea markets, swap meets, going to old car shows and working in his shop. He moved to Rapids City, IL, in 2008 to live with his daughter Cathy.
    He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Marie Burt, Rapids City, IL; granddaughters, Candice (Josh) Horrall, Bettendorf, IA, Megan Burt, Kewanee, IL, Felina Michelle, Aberdeen, KY; grandson, Russell V. Burt II; great grandchildren, Riley James and Elijah Robert Horrall; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers JC and Ardith Ray (Justine) Willis; 2 sisters and their spouses, Betty Jane (Talmar) Raymer, Virgie Mae (Gus) Elmore; daughter, Mildred Marie Willis; and his wife, Marie Deloris Willis.
