Charles R. Allen, 87 formerly of Drakesboro, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013, at the Christian Health Center in Bowling Green, Ky. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Morgantown, Ky. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the Army -Air Corp.
Charles was born May 30, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan to the late J.W. (Ted) and Susan Mercer Allen.
Allen is survived by his wife of 62 years Hannah Martin Allen of Bowling Green, Ky.; three children Phyllis Kelly (Dan) and Judy Coots (Bob) of Bowling Green, Ky. and Dale Allen (Nancy) of Drakesboro, Ky.; 6 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and four sisters Lucille Robinson, Gladys Pearl Thompson (Ellis Jr.) and Sue Johnstone (Larry) of Drakesboro, Ky., and Helen Thompson of Nashville, TN.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at 12:00pm with Bishop Paul Cofoid officiating. Burial will be in the Dan Johnson Cemetery were military rights will be conducted by the AM VETS POST 117. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 5:30pm - 8:30 pm and Wednesday from 8:00 am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
