Charles Edwin Wilson

Charles Edwin Wilson, age 96, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Morgantown Care & Rehab in Morgantown, Kentucky. Born on Wednesday, July 25, 1928, in Butler County, Kentucky, Charles's journey through life was marked by his unwavering kindness, friendly demeanor, and courageous spirit.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Crit and Letha Martin Wilson; his wife, Bernice Willett Wilson; his daughter, Yvonne Deweese; and his sister, Dorothy Mae Charlton. His legacy continues through his family, including his sons, Jimmy Wilson (Tammy) and Ricky Wilson, both of Morgantown, KY; his stepson, Garry Robbins (Betty), also of Morgantown; his nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A proud United States Army veteran, Charles served his country with honor during the Korean War. Charles became a familiar and friendly face in the community through his work as a store clerk at Bill Hoods Western Auto, and Spradlins Butler County Hardware, additionally, he was a farmer. Charles volunteered many hours and days at Morgantown Care & Rehab Center where he was recognized when he was inducted into the MCRC Hall of Fame. Charles attended Belmont General Baptist Church, his interests were as wholesome as they were joyful. Charles enjoyed dancing and socializing with his friends, his garden was a source of pride and pleasure, and he spent countless hours. A regular at the poolhall, but perhaps what brought him the most joy was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play ball.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 1:00pm with Bro. T J Howard officiating. Burial will be in the Sandy Creek Cemetery where Chandler Franzell, Mikie Robbins, Jordan Wilson, Denny Deweese, Dennis Robbins and Dylan Kessler will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 9:30am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International P.O.
