Charles E. Tomes

Charles E. Tomes, 86 of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Charles was born Saturday February 2, 1935 on the family farm in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Wesley and Ordry Embry Tomes. He was a member of Christian Home Church of Christ, United States Army Veteran and member of the NRA. Charles loved to hunt, raise quail and spend time with family, especially his grandchildren. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by one daughter Sharon England; one granddaughter Carley Tomes, four sisters Helen Embry, Dorothy Embry, Ruth Duke and Phyllis Key and one brother Thorston Tomes.

Charles E. Tomes is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Alma Dale Tomes of Morgantown, KY; two daughters Beverly Butler (Wendell) of Springfield, TN and Lisa Tomes-Kirby of LaVergne, TN; one son Charlie Tomes (Christie) of Morgantown, KY; 11 grandchildren Bobbi Fulcher (Robert) of Russellville, KY, Casie Hopkins of Springfield, TN, Matt Butler (Morgan) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Miranda Bowen (Marty) of Lebanon, TN, Dusten Kirby (Emily) of Lafayette, TN, Rachel Kirby of Lafayette, TN, Ariel Tomes of Bowling Green, KY, Whitley and Gracie Grubb and Brayden and Braxton Tomes all of Morgantown, KY; 12 great grandchildren Rylie, Beau, and Remi Dale Fulcher, Skylar, Brooke, and Kaylee Hopkins, Madison and Makenna Bowen, Camille Butler, Cameron, Knox, and Willow Kirby; son in law Joe England of Falls of Rough, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 1:00pm with Bro. Miles Tomes officiating. Burial will be held in the Christian Home Cemetery where military rites will be observed by the Ohio County Honor Guard AM Vets. Serving as pallbearers honorary Beau Fulcher pallbearers Brayden, and Braxton Tomes, Rob Fulcher, Mike Roof, Joe England, Wendell Butler, and James Mitchell.  Visitation will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm and Saturday 10:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
