Charles "Charlie" Phelps

Charles "Charlie" Phelps, age 71 of Morgantown, KY, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Born on Sunday, May 30, 1954, in Morgantown, KY, Charlie's life was a testament to his hard work, and dedication to family.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Pauline Shepherd Phelps, and his ten siblings: William Phelps, Nola Embry, Leo Phelps, Sara Lee, James "Big Jim" Phelps, Randall Phelps, Evertt Phelps, Wendell "Nip" Phelps, Martin Phelps, and Marcella Hammers. His memory will be forever cherished by his partner, Shannon Ashby of Morgantown, KY; his daughters, Candace Meredith of Morgantown, KY, and Cassadee Morris of Elizabeth, KY; his special son, Keegan Colgate; and his six grandchildren, Tiffany Swift, Brittany Embry, Hannah Swift, Alexis Morris, Tre'Shawn Morris, and Tristan Burden. Charlie was also great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings, Raymond L. Phelps, Helen P. Henderson, and David Phelps (Karen), all of Morgantown, KY, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

For 33 years, Charlie dedicated his professional life to Building Systems and Acoustics in Bowling Green, KY. His commitment to his work was matched only by his skill and intelligence. Charlie's interests were as rich and varied as his character. He had a profound love for carpenter work, which was not only a hobby but also a way to express his creativity and craftsmanship. Above all, Charlie cherished spending time with his family, especially with his special son, Keegan.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Monday, August 11, 2025 at 11:00am with Bro. Frankie Skipworth officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm and Monday 8:00am until funeral time at 11:00am at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
