Carol Doolin Givens

Carol Doolin Givens, 76, of Owensboro died Thursday, May 12, 2016, at her home. She was born Jan. 24, 1940, in Morgantown to the late Emma Jean and Robert Howard Doolin. She received a master's degree from Western Kentucky University. She retired as an elementary school teacher, having taught in the Grayson County School System and at Burns Elementary School. She was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Lolita Doolin Smith and Sandra Kay Doolin; and a brother, Kenneth Ray Doolin.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Denise Givens of Louisville; granddaughters Reese and Riley Givens; two brothers, Benny Doolin of Butler County and Robert Doolin of Cromwell; sisters Myrna Slade of Cynthiana and Linda McCloud of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial is in Riverview Cemetery in Morgantown. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
