The BCHS Track and Field Team traveled to Grayson County on Tuesday, April 19^th to compete in their largest track meet this season. Butler County squared off against teams from Grayson, Ohio, Hart, McLean, Hancock, and Warren East in an effort to shake off the Spring Break rust. Doing just that, Butler County was able to improve personal times across the board, setting many PR’s (personal records) on the night. Coach Ladewig showed his excitement for the night by saying, “These athletes work so hard, and it is very rewarding to see that work pay off on the stop watch tonight.”

Butler’s relay teams showed off their speed in exciting fashion by bringing home 2^nd in the girls’ 4X800 meter, and Boys’ 4X100 meter. 3^rd place in the Girls’ 4X100 meter, Boys’ 4X200 meter, and girls’ 4X200 meter races. Jacob Hixenbaugh showed off his agility as well as his speed, as he quickly made up lost ground during a calamity of events during the 3^rd exchange of the 4X200 meter race. The result of which concluded in the disqualification of McLean County’s time. “During the exchange, McLean’s runner crossed over into Jacob’s lane, while another runner fell in front of him,” Explained Coach Donaldson. “Jacob then had to maneuver around one runner and hurdle another. It was like watching a Talladega race. He made his time up and was able to recover to 3^rd place.” Donaldson continued. “That is what makes these relay races so exciting because you never know what is going to happen. Glad to see the team recover the way they did.” 

Butler County continues their season on Friday, April 22^nd at Greenwood, April, 26^th at South Warren, and April, 28^th at McLean County.
