Bro. Howard C. Phelps

Bro. Howard C. Phelps, 62 of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away Monday, May 4, 2020, at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY. Howard was born May 14, 1957 in Butler County, KY to the late J.C. Phelps and Bernice Orange Phelps. He was a member of Forrest Park Baptist Church in Bowling Green, KY and a ordained minister. He ministered at several churches in Butler County and surrounding counties. Howard was a graduate of  Butler County High School class of 1975, Friendship Bible College and attended Western Kentucky University. He was a  honorable KY Colonel, former WLBQ 1570 radio manager and former editor of the Butler County Post. Howard also was a substitute teacher, a deputy jailer for the Butler County Jail and retired from EVINE Distribution Center.  He loved being a grandfather, reading, writing, kayaking and his recliner watching TV.

Bro. Howard C. Phelps is survived by his wife of 17 years Melinda Guffy Phelps of Morgantown, KY; three daughters Brittany Miller (Ashton) of Auburn, KY, Shanda Lovell (Bryan) of Morgantown, KY and Stacy Phelps (Kenny) of Hopkinsville, KY; one son Ryan Henderson of Morgantown, KY; 11 grandchildren Sawyer Marshall and Sydney Miller, Lexa, Lucas, Jenna, Jase and Samie Johnson, Ashton and Scarlett Lovell, Kelly Blanchard and Slade Wright; three sisters Vickie Hutcheson, Penny Wallace (Mike) and Suzanne Brosnan (Tommy) all of Morgantown, KY; two brothers Kevin Phelps (Debi) and Mike Phelps (Shelia) all of Morgantown, KY; mother in law Jean Guffy of Bowling Green, KY; sister in law Kristie Guffy of Bowling Green, KY; brother in law Donnie Guffy of Bowling Green, KY; special great nephew Jeremiah Gilliland of Morgantown, KY and several nieces and nephews.

For the health and safety of the families we serve we are staying in compliance by the directives set forth by the Governor of Kentucky and CDC recommendations. The Phelps family has requested that all visitation and funeral services be private at the Jones Funeral Chapel with Bro. A private burial will be held in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. The family has requested expression of sympathy be made to Butler County Cancer Assistance P.O. Box 98 Aberdeen, KY 42201.
