Brenda Joyce Longhofer

Brenda Joyce Longhofer, 84 of Morgantown, KY passed away April 23, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born April 30, 1941 in Butler County to the late Silas Raymer and Lois Bryant.

Brenda started her career in hairdressing after borrowing $500 from her bus driver to buy a prom dress and attend beauty school in Bowling Green, She married Darryl Renfrow, moved to Louisville, and had a daughter in 1963. There she pursued her hairdressing career, becoming president of the National Hairdressing and Cosmetologist Association (NHCA). She married fellow hairdresser Roy Longhofer and built their hairdressing empire of beauty schools and salons- Roy and Company.

After becoming a widow, Brenda left Louisville and returned to her roots in Butler County. She opened an eclectic antique and giftshop, "Potlatch" for 5 years. Becoming a Grandmother in 1998 was her greatest role yet!

Brenda was an avid reader and passionate about music. She never met a stranger, sharing her home with family and friends. She openly loved all she touched. 

Brenda is survived by her daughter Suzanne Renfrow (Alan Cooper), granddaughter Annabelle Cooper, and first husband Darryl Renfrow all of Morgantown; step daughter Amby Longhofer of Ohio; sisters Jerry Sager of Morgantown, Connie Flint and Lyndia Willis of Louisville, and Sandy Scott (Terry) of Ft. Lauderdale; brothers Merle Raymer (Janice) and Carlos Raymer (Wondena) of Morgantown, and several nieces and nephews. 

There will be a celebration to honor Brenda Saturday May 23rd from 12 noon to 4pm at her home 4819 Bowling Green Rd. Morgantown, KY. In memory of Brenda, listen to some live music, visit Butler County library, or make a donation to the Green River Museum located in Woodbury, KY.
