The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, January 10, at the Butler County Education Complex.  Board members Ryan Daugherty, Debbie Hammers, Amy Hood, and Delbert Johnson were in attendance. Judge-Executive David Fields administered the Oath of Office to newly re-elected board members Debbie Hammers and Ryan Daugherty. Superintendent Howard announced that Amy Sanders has been appointed to fill the vacant first district board member’s seat.  Sanders will be sworn in later this month, and her first meeting will be in February.

District Finance Officer Eric Elms was unable to attend the meeting, so Mr. Howard gave the financial report for December.  The beginning balance was $1,864,371.86.   The end of the month balance was $2,083,035.62.

In the Superintendent’s Report, Mr. Howard informed the board that he attended the GRREC Board of Director’s meeting in Frankfort last week where he was able to talk to legislators and discuss priorities for the upcoming legislative session. He also reported that he and both elementary school principals attended a presentation at Delta Faucets. “I can’t say enough about what Delta has done. They have donated $40,000 to our Leader in Me program,” said Howard.

Robert Tuck, Director of Pupil Personnel, showed the board a calendar he created for next school year after getting input from teachers and parents.  He also gave a mid-year report on attendance.  According to Tuck, the district enrollment is up 54 students from last year.  He said, “Our enrollment is back up to where we need and want our enrollment to be.  I feel this is due to the great job our school system and staff do to work to meet the needs of all our students.”
