Billy Wayne Stockton
Billy Wayne Stockton, age 90, passed away on June 18, 2026, at Hospice of Southern KY Hospice House in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was born on July 23, 1935, in Itawamba County, Mississippi, and lived a life marked by faith, hard work, devotion to family, and a warm spirit that touched many along the way.
Bill was a loving, thoughtful, and handy man who built a life centered on service and care for others. He was a Christian and a faithful member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where his faith was an important part of his daily life. He also served his country as a U.S. Army veteran, carrying with him the values of duty, discipline, and perseverance throughout his years. In his community, he was known not only for his work ethic but also for his willingness to help wherever he was needed.
For 18 years, Bill owned and operated Bill’s Cash and Carry in Huntsville, KY where he became a familiar and respected presence. Through his business, he served countless customers and formed lasting friendships with many in the area. He was also a volunteer at the Bill Monroe Foundation, an involvement that reflected his appreciation for bluegrass music and the traditions he held dear. Bill enjoyed woodworking and took pride in working with his hands. He loved traveling, attending bluegrass music and festivals, and riding around with his grand-furbaby, Sophie. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him great joy.
Bill is survived by his wife of 42 years, Edna Sue Stockton of Huntsville, KY, one son, William Stockton of Russellville, KY; two daughters, Vickie Givens (Kimmy) of Huntsville, KY, and Charlene Gentry of Lewisburg, KY; two grandchildren, Jason Givens and Jamie Norris; one great-grandson, Ashton Norris (Gretchen); and several nieces and nephews. His family will remember him for his steady presence, his kind heart, and the many ways he showed his love through both words and actions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Verlon Pickett Stockton; one infant son; two sisters; Tommie Bell and Willie Whitington, and one brother, Jerry Stockton. Though his passing leaves a deep void, his family finds comfort in the many memories they shared with him and in the example of a life lived with integrity, humility, and devotion.
