Beatrice Elaine Johnson Cornwell

Beatrice Elaine Johnson Cornwell, age 81 of Morgantown, KY, formerly of Draffenville, KY went to her heavenly home on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab. Bea was born Saturday, September 27, 1941 in Butler Co., KY, the oldest of ten children to the union of the late Wallace and Lottie Johnson. She was a member of Briensburg Church of Christ in Benton, KY and enjoyed reading, sewing and supporting the Murray State University Racers. Bea grew up without wealth but had the love of her parents that taught her about the bible and God. In her late 40's Bea obtained her GED and continued her education until she earned her Master's degree from Murray State University where she went to work and retired with 20 plus years of service. Bea was an advocate of non-traditional students and encouraged many by her own experience. Other than her parents, Bea is preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Johnson and one sister, Cuba Johnson.

Bea is survived by five sisters; Vida Coots of Morgantown, KY, Brenda Hudson of Morgantown, KY, Linda Phelps of Clarksville IN, Marrine Burden of Morgantown, KY and Violet Coots of Bowling Green, KY, two brothers; Charles Johnson (Joice) of Morgantown, KY and Rollie Johnson (Mary Lou) of Leitchfield, KY and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Jones Funeral Chapel with Bro Gary Knuckles officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 9:00 AM until funeral time at 11:00 AM at the Jones Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Briensburg Church of Christ, 2349 Benton-Briensburg Rd, Benton, KY 42025.
