Arlie Rayburn Givens

Arlie Rayburn Givens, 88, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Heritage Center.

Arlie grew up in Morgantown, Kentucky and came to Evansville in 1948 seeking work. While working at Inland Container he met Wanda. They were married for 56 years. Arlie also ran an Auto Detailing Shop - Givens Wax and Clean-up Shop, then worked at Fiberfil (now DSM). His greatest adventure came at Midwest Roofing/Sheet Metal. His true life-long love was rabbit hunting. Arlie and beagle dogs were a match made in Heaven! Later, he began visiting SWIRCA and found his niche in retirement. Food, fun and fellowship, that was his pleasure after Wanda passed away. Arlie was also a 32nd degree Mason in the Lessing Lodge of Evansville.

Arlie is survived by his sons, Dan Dimmett (Jessie) of Vincennes, IN, Jim Dimmett (Janis) of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Paul Dimmett of Evansville, IN and Glenn Givens (Debbie) of Evansville, IN; sisters, Nara Wester (Morris) and Exie Mayhugh; brother, Douglass Givens (Sue); grandchildren, Stacy Draper (Rod), Kristen Dimmett, David Dimmett (Joanie), Kasey Dimmett (Cam), Jaron Dimmett (Erica), Amanda Hisch (Dave), Stephanye Givens and Victoria Givens; great-grandchildren, Riley and Kyle Draper, River, Drew, Cain, and Eden Dimmett.

Arlie was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Mae (Gist) Givens; parents, Arlie and Elpha Givens; brothers, Ellis, Earl, Carlis, and Raymond; and a sister, Ina.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Minster Tim Gerbig officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Smith Funeral Home in Morgantown, KY. Friends may also visit from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with a Masonic service starting at 6:00 PM and again from 9:00 AM until service time at Browning Funeral Home on Monday.
