Angela “Angie” Jeanette Renfrow Martin

Angela “Angie” Jeanette Renfrow Martin age 64 of Morgantown, KY passed away Monday, May 19, 2025 at her residence in Woodbury, KY. Angie was born on Monday, December 19, 1960 in Louisville, KY to J.B. and Recie Dee Embry Renfrow.

Angie was 9 years old when her family moved to Butler County, and she spent the rest of her life there.  She met her husband, James, in 1976.  After dating for nearly 4 years, they married on July 5, 1980.  They were the loves of each other’s lives and shared 49 happy years together.  Together they had two sons - Jonathan and Brian, whom she cherished.  She always had a special love for her father, J.B.

Growing up, Angie spent a lot of fun times with her cousins Ruby Barks Daugherty, Genise Barks Cowles, and Lisa Embry Jones, along with her best friend Judy Ward Johnson.

She was very talented and creative.  She enjoyed sewing, drawing, home decorating, and arts and crafts.  She was a member of Woodbury Baptist Church and loved teaching Bible School to the children there.  She had a love for animals and cared for many beloved pets over the years.

She retired in 2015 from the Butler County School System after 25 years of service.  For the majority of those years she worked in the same building - Butler County Middle School - with her husband James, who taught math and science there.  He retired two years after Angie did, in order to care for her.

She is preceded in death by her mother Recie Dee Embry Renfrow and her sister-in-law Judy Gaskey Renfrow.

She is survived by her father J.B. Renfrow, husband James, sons Jonathan (C.J.) and Brian, brothers Danny (Darlene) Renfrow, Donald Renfrow, Ben (Amber) Renfrow, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Angie passed away after fighting a 10 plus year battle with Alzheimer’s.  She never lost her sweet and loving nature throughout the course of the disease.  She kept her love for her husband, sons and father even as her memories faded away.  If you’d like to make a contribution in her honor, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association, in hopes of finding a cure.
