Alta "Doodle" Akin Neal, 90, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  She was born in Dunbar, Ky. on June 30, 1925 to the late John and Letha Bingham Akin.  Ms. Neal was a member of Carve Rock Baptist Church and was a retired cook at Lakeview Nursing Home.  She enjoyed quilting, gardening and crocheting.  Other than her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Albert Neal; brothers, Wendell and Robert Akin; sister, Clarise Akin; 2 sons in law, Estill Gidcumb and Kenneth Brashars.

Ms. Neal is survived by 2 daughters, Daris Gidcumb Brashars of Morgantown,  Brenda Keown and husband Royce of Morgantown; 3 grandchildren, Angie Hope and husband Brian of Logansport, Deanna Hunt and husband Scott of Bowling Green and Greg Keown of Morgantown; 5 great grandchildren, Sasha Overstreet and husband Cole of Morgantown, Hillary Womack and husband Jarod,  Drew Hunt and Mollie Hunt all of Bowling Green, Haley Hope of Logansport; 4 great great grandchildren, Bella Womack, Oliver Womack, Remy Womack and Noah Overstreet; several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 3 pm with Bro. Gary Embry officiating.  Burial will follow in Carve Rock Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday from 4-9 pm and Tuesday from 8 am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
