Alma Jean Hocker

Alma Jean Render Hocker, 85 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Tuesday April 5, 2016 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab. Alma Jean was born on Sunday December 7, 1930 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Joshua U. and Anna Mae Moore Render and wife of the late Hugh R. Hocker Sr.. She was a member of the Morgantown First Baptist Church and  the Clara Lee Circle, a Kentucky Colonel, lifetime member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and served on Morgantown Planning and Zoning Board for 10 years. A retired school teacher from the Butler County School System and member of the retired Teachers Assoc.. She served on the Ky. council of Teachers of English and was state president for two consecutive terms. Other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death by one daughter Mona Hocker Jones and one grandson Bo. Phelps.
Alma Jean Render Hocker is survived by one son Hugh R. Hocker Jr. of Morgantown, Ky.; two daughters Anna Laura Hocker of Morgantown, Ky. and Ruth Hocker Spalding and husband Hugh of St. Louis Missouri; three granddaughters Jennifer Jones and husband Chriss Vowles of Pinckney Michigan, Laura Rose Phelps of Bowling Green, Ky. and Allison Spalding of Lexington, Ky.; five grandsons Jeremy Jones and wife Allison May of Madison Wisconsin, H. Render Hocker III of Morgantown, Ky., Hank Rivers Hocker Sr. of Morgantown, Ky., Hal Ryan Hocker fiancé Chelsea Hewitt of Lexington, Ky. and J. Reid Spalding of St. Louis Missouri; one great grandson Hank Rivers Hocker Jr. of Bowling Green, Ky.; a son in law James Wayne Jones (Susan Ederer) of Ann Arbor Michigan and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Morgantown First Baptist Church Saturday April 9, 2016 at 3:00pm with Bro. Greg Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Friday April 8, 2016 from 3:30pm - 8:00pm and Saturday 12:00pm until funeral time at 3:00pm at the Morgantown First Baptist Church.
