Alice Marie Shain Embry

Alice Marie Shain Embry, 74, of  Louisville,  passed away peacefully at her home Friday, March 15, 2013 surrounded by her family.

She was born November 23, 1938 in Grayson Co., Kentucky to the late Herbert and Delphia Brooks Shain.  She was a member of the Caneyville Christian Church, and was baptized August 28, 1949.  She was retired from the Phillip Morris Tobacco Company after 35 years as an inspector.
Alice loved to quilt, crochet, and was an avid gardener.  She also had a love of antiques.  Earl and Alice would spend many hours researching and collecting antiques.  She spent time with her family and friends either in person, by phone, or letters.  Alice will be missed by them greatly.

She was a devoted and caring mother and grandmother.  She leaves to cherish her memory her son Victor (Tina) Embry; grandson Dylan Embry; Earl Woosley, her longtime companion of 26 years. Also surviving are her brothers: Perry, Terry (Becky), Johnny (Roxanna), and Gary Shain; sisters: Brinda Day and Judy (Kevin) Tarrence.
In addition to her parents Alice was preceded in death by her husband James Ray Embry; her brothers: Phillip and Jerry Shain; and her sisters: Carol Sanders and Zelda Embry.
A special thanks to Tina for the compassion and care given to Mom during her illness.
A celebration of her life will take place at 12:00 P.M.noon (Central Time) Tuesday, March 19, 2013, with Bro. David Brown officiating with burial to follow in the Wilson Home Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville on Monday, March 18, 2013, from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Central Time, and from 9:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the service.
