Addie Mae Childers
Addie Mae Childers, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at her residence in Jetson, KY, surrounded by loved ones. Born on Saturday, March 6, 1937, in Jetson, KY, Addie's life was a tapestry of generosity, creativity, and unwavering faith that touched everyone she knew.
Addie was the daughter of Jasper N. and Amelia Nash Woosley, who preceded her in death. She was also greeted in heaven by her beloved husband of 61 years, Sam Childers, who passed away on December 21, 2019. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, having been married on June 7, 1958. She was a sister to James Woosley (Wilma) and Anna Dee Woosley Phelps (Carlos), and aunt to Jerry Phelps and Garrett Woosley.
Her legacy continues through her devoted sons, Sam Gregory Childers of Louisville, KY, and Tema D. Childers (Linda) of Jetson, KY. Addie was a proud grandmother to Karinna Snelling (Shane) of Mammoth Cave, KY, and a doting great-grandmother to Kyla Mclellan (Nash) of Etowah, TN, Harley Mestas of Franklin, NC, Savannah Mestas of Andrews, NC, Olivia Mestas of Franklin, NC, and Khloe Snelling of Mammoth Cave, KY. She was also blessed to see the joy of her three great-great-grandchildren, Landon, Caleb, and Addie of Etowah, TN. Her niece Peggy Lewis (Garland) of Shelbyville, KY, nephew Mike Phelps (Cindy) of Mt. Washington, KY, and Jerry's wife Charlotte of Louisville, KY, along with numerous nieces and nephews by marriage, will also hold her memory dear.
A faithful member of the Green Valley Church of Christ in Jetson, KY, Addie found a loving Christian family with whom she shared her life's journey. Her work at Kanes Manufacturing, Kellwood Sewing Factory, and Butler County Schools Food Service allowed her to spread her kindness and joy to all, especially cherishing the moments she spent with the children.
Addie's hands were rarely still, as she loved to sew, crochet, knit, and engage in all kinds of needlework. Her passion for planting a big garden and preserving her harvest, as well as caring for her many flowers, were sources of great pleasure and pride.
Funeral services will be held at the Green Valley Church of Christ Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 11:00am with Bro. Roger Worley officiating. Burial will be in the Lumbustown Cemetery where her family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 4:00pm- 8:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Wednesday 9:00am until funeral time at 11:00am at the Green Valley Church of Christ.
