The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a string of thefts that have occurred in recent weeks where multiple vehicles have had windows shattered so items inside could be stolen. Thefts from vehicles are not uncommon, but the thefts sheriff’s deputies have seen since January are out of the ordinary. --Messenger-Inquirer * * * The former volunteer fishing coach at McCracken County High School pleaded guilty Thursday to attempted first-degree sexual abuse and possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. John Parks, 57, initially faced one count of first-degree sexual abuse and 10 counts of possession, but his plea agreement called for the dismissal of nine possession charges and an amendment to the abuse charge. --Paducah Sun * * * Jefferson Family Court Judge Derwin Webb has been publicly reprimanded by the Kentucky Supreme Court for an error in private practice that caused a former client to be married to two men at the same time. The Kentucky Bar Association had charged Webb with failing to confirm that a divorce decree had been entered for the client. --Courier-Journal
