Andy Sullivan: Against the Grain

In 1951, Tony Bennett’s first big hit, “Because of You” reached #1 on the pop charts and sold over 1 million copies.  Because of Tony Bennett, music lovers of all ages would fall in love with the classic standards of the pre-Rock & Roll era that have been interpreted and reinterp

Jarrod Jacobs: “759 Ways To Improve Your Life”

The above title was on a magazine cover I saw once. As I read that title, I could not help but stand amazed at the extent to which our society has become enamored with self. Is it not amazing that someone could find “759 ways” to improve one’s physical life, and in all of this, could not see that there is but one thing that will make the most significant improvement? The most tremendous improvement for a person is the salvation of one’s soul from sin! Yes, the soul of man needs help rather than the body, for this is the part of man that endures! Many families are beginning to think about the next school year. As a former teacher, a mom, and a grandmother, most years of my life have included back-to-school activities. Each family’s back-to-school preparation may look different, but usually these activities are simple things. Even so, making good memories with children is an important part of their school success.

What Is It That Saves Man?

There is much religious confusion today. One area where men are confused concerns how we can be saved. Some have been taught that faith alone saves a man. Is this what the Bible teaches? Please read the verses below. The Bible teaches that:

People saw salvation when John preached (Lk. 3:6).

Salvation came through Christ (Matt. 1:21; Lk. 2:30, 19:9-10; Jn. 3:17, 10:9, 12:47; Acts 4:12; I Tim. 1:15; Heb. 7:25; Jas. 4:12; Rom. 4:25, 5:10).

Now and then, I’ll get some interesting tidbits from SiriusXM. Here is the latest batch. Did you know that Carly Simon began her career in the 1960’s as part of The Simon Sisters. This folk duo consisted of Carly and her sister Lucy. They released 3 albums between 1964-1969 before Lucy left and got married. Lucy had a minor solo career and released 2 albums in the ‘70’s before finding greater success writing music for Broadway lay; she received a Tony award nomination for her music on The Secret Garden in 1991.
