The 2025 NFCA Spring High School All-Region Teams have been announced, and Layla Ogden, a junior at South Warren High School, has been named to the First Team for Region VIII as a Utility/Starting Pitcher (Utility/SP) — a testament to her all-around dominance on the diamond this season.

The top prize at the 2025 Green River Catfish Festival was $500. Dana Bledsoe won this prize, leaving Chad Cox as the only participant remaining with one $500 tag still available. Unfortunately for Chad Cox and Beech Tree News, his number was drawn.

The Charles Black City Park was busy with activitiy this past weekend as a pair of softball tournaments took place.  The "Whisker Series," 10U and 12U fastpitch softball tournaments, were presented on Saturday, June 28, by the city of Morgantown in conjunction with the Green River Catfish Festiva
