We have 66 books in the Bible (39 Old Testament books, 27 New Testament books) to provide us with God’s guidance and establish and strengthen our faith (Rom. 10:17; Jude 3). Sadly, after 2000 years, some call the Bible “outdated,” “unrealistic,” and the like.

Aviation in the Commonwealth

Our title is found in Luke 18:13. In this text; we read a parable the Lord spoke to those who “trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others” (Lk. 18:9). This parable was about a Pharisee and publican (tax collector) who went to the Temple to pray to God (Lk. 18:10-13).

I am sure that our readers have heard people say words to the effect, “All you need to do is call upon the name of the Lord, and you can be saved.” Some will tell you to pray and say, “Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner,” or similar things. This teaching is a misapplication of Romans 10:13.
