Andy Sullivan: Against the Grain

Did I think of a few more tv themes to share this week? Yes, yes, https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/blendertainment/id1541097172https:... did! You might remember her for playing Willona Woods on the ‘70’s comedy Good Times, but did you know that she co-wrote The Jefferson’s theme? She did! The song, written by Jeff Barry and Ja’net Dubois.  The late Dubois also sang the song.

“As Long As We’ve Got Each Other” is the most successful TV series theme song of all time.  The Growing Pains intro theme song, performed by B.J. Thomas, tells a story that you’ll find yourself reflecting on.  Growing Pains star, the late Alan Thicke, actually wrote several theme songs.  He wrote the theme for the 1973 game show “The Wizard of Odds”, hosted by the late Alex Trebek.  He wrote “Big Wheels” for Wheel of Fortune, in 1973.  Thicke wrote two classic television themes: “It Takes Diff’rent Strokes(1978-1985) and “The Facts of Life” for The Facts of Life(1979-1988).  (Google)

I’ll end with “Those Were The Days’, the All In The Family theme song, The theme song was written by Broadway songwriters Lee Adams(music) and Charles Strouse(music).  The show opened with Archie Bunker (Carroll O’Connor) and his wife Edith (Jean Stapleton) singing it around a piano.  It was written specifically for the show.

This is where my tv theme song review reaches its conclusion.  I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about these classics as much as I’ve enjoyed researching ang learning about them.
