Hi ya’ll!! I hope your week has been fantastic. Driving the country side, I came across a treasure! Nothing says country more than a tractor or a barn. I know I was raised in the city, but I’ve always said I was just misplaced because my heart is pure country.

Powell County, Kentucky was founded in 1852 and named for Lazarus Whitehead Powell, 19th governor of Kentucky from 1851-1855.  He was later selected to serve in the U.S. Senate from 1859-1865.  The county seat is Stanton.  The largest city is Snakey Holler.

If you can stay “healthy as a horse”, don’t get “sick as a dog.” Twenty years ago the average patient stayed in the hospital for more than one week. Today the average length of a hospital stay is less than five days.

There is a giant pine tree in Agnes’ (Garey’s mom) front yard.  It has lived there for over sixty years.  The tree was just a baby when Agnes and J.D.

Well, it’s not even close to the official “spring” season, but this weather has everything shook up. I had over 20 robins in my front yard one day last week. The buttercups are blooming (I’ve seen some beautiful ones) and the trees and other flowers are budding out.
