Irene Fortner, 93 of Gallatin, Tennessee formerly of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Sunday May 25, 2014 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee. Irene was born Saturday May 14, 1921 in Butler County Kentucky to the late Palos and Doxie Abbott Proctor and wife of the late Victor Fortner. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker. Other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her son Wayne Fortner and four brothers Grady Botley Proctor, James G. Proctor, Thomas L. Proctor and Ivan J. Proctor.
Irene Fortner is survived by one son Vinyard Fortner wife Pat of Hendersonville, TN; one daughter Judy Russell husband Joe of Red Boiling Springs, TN; five grandsons Robert Fortner of Grand Rapids, MI; Michael Fortner of Clinton, TN, Kevin Fortner of Hendersonville, TN, Stan Fortner of Columbia, TN, and Jermey Fortner of Antioch, TN; four granddaughters Annie Jo Mandabach of Red Boiling, TN, Michelle Brown of Gallatin, TN, Vickie Richerson of Bristol, TN and Kimberly Fortner of White House, TN; 15 great grandchildren; one brother Doyle W. Proctor of Morgantown, Ky.; five sisters Audrey O. Abbott of Madisonville, Ky., Hazel L. Kitchens of Russellville, Ky., Margie C. Drake of Beechmont, Ky., Velma C. Drake of Morgantown, Ky. and Alma L. Summler of Russellville, Ky. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Wednesday May 28, 2014 at 1:00pm. Burial will be held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday May 27, 2014 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm and Wednesday from 8:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
