Jerry Allen Jones
Jerry Allen Jones, age 73 of Morgantown, KY, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Norton's Healthcare Pavilion in Louisville, KY. Born on April 1, 1952, in Butler County, KY, Jerry's life was a testament to the love and joy he brought to those around him.
Jerry was the beloved husband of Patricia Cox Jones of Morgantown, KY, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage after their union on May 23, 1970. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support. Jerry was a devoted father to Angela Peay of Morgantown, KY, Brad Jones (Gaylene) of Morgantown, KY, and Todd Jones (Jennifer) of Evansville, Indiana; six grandchildren, AnaLeigh Faith Peay, Brittany Nicole Durham, Courtney Parrish, Easton Henderson, Addison Jones all of Morgantown, KY, and Lucy Davis of Evansville, Indiana, and his great-grandchildren, Brantlee Dockery, Brayden Dockery, Bryson Jones, Bryar White, Brenner Parrish, and Arlee Mae Parrish all of Morgantown, KY. Jerry's legacy is carried on by his siblings Faye Jones Cardwell of Morgantown, KY, Harold Wayne Jones (Kim) of Bowling Green, KY, and Melinda Jones (Mark) of Bowling Green, KY, as well as his sister-in-law Cindy Cardwell (Mark) and brothers-in-law Ronnie Cox (Bobbie) and Donnie Cox (Shelia) all of Morgantown, KY and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jerry retired after many years as a Riverboat Pilot for Mulzer Crushed Stone, where he was known for his dedication and skill. He found joy in riding his Harley, attending gun shows, and marveling at antique car shows. The Smokey Mountains held a special place in his heart, as did the precious moments spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Jerry was a man of great character, described by those who knew him as loving, friendly, and selfless. His warm smile and generous spirit were a beacon of light to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He approached life with an open heart, always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word.
Preceded in death by his parents, Chesley "Neut" and Mable May Gray Jones; son-in-law Dwayne Peay; brothers James Earl Jones and Wendell Ray Jones; sister Sharon Sue Jones; father and mother-in-law Emmitt and Jo Dean Cox; niece Bonnie Burden; and nephews Steven Cardwell, Garlon Casey Cox, and Ronald Ray Jones.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 12:00pm with Bro. Randall Deweese and Bro. Johnny Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Noah Johnson Cemetery where Todd Jones, Johnny Cox, Easton Henderson, Elijah McClister, Robert Filback, Brandon Jones and Wayne Jones will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 4:30pm - 8:00pm and Thursday 8:00am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
