Gracie M. Johnson

Gracie M. Johnson, age 74 of Morgantown, KY, passed away at her residence in Morgantown, Kentucky, on Monday, June 30, 2025. Born on Wednesday, October 18, 1950, in Butler County, Kentucky, Gracie's life was a testament to the power of selflessness and the joy of simple pleasures.

Gracie was the daughter of the late Tower and Nellie Farris Johnson. She was a loving sister to her siblings, and her passing was preceded by Darrell, Bill, Jim, Genie, Ben, Shurman, Myrtle, Rosille  and Sis Johnson, and Opal Phelps. Gracie's devotion to family was evident in her enduring love for her late husband, Albin Johnson, and her grandson, Terry Shaw.

Her legacy continues through her children, David Johnson (Ashley) of Morgantown, KY, Donnie Cockrell (Elizabeth) of Owensboro, KY, and Ronnie Cockrell of Roundhill, KY. Gracie's life was further enriched by her 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, LeRoy Johnson (Kathy) of Morgantown, KY, and Rachel Shaw of Missouri, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gracie's professional life was spent in the warm heart of the kitchen, where she worked as a cook at many restaurants. Her love for cooking was just one aspect of her nurturing nature, and she took great pleasure in feeding both the bodies and souls of those around her. Her interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. Gracie enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, tending to her garden, and the delicate stitches of her sewing. Gracie loved planting and working in her flower beds.
