Charles E. Ritchie, age 86 of Rochester, KY, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born on Saturday, May 14, 1938, in Hazard, Kentucky, Charles lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and intelligence. His gentle spirit and warm heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Charles was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ezekiel and Rachel Ritchie, as well as several brothers and sisters. His memory will be forever treasured by his devoted wife of 53 years, Faye York Ritchie of Rochester, KY, whom he married on September 10, 1971. He was a proud father to his son, Christopher Ritchie of Rochester, KY. His legacy continues through his granddaughter, Kristen Nicole Barks (Mason) of Morgantown, KY, and his great-grandchild, Riley Grace Barks of Morgantown, KY. Charles is also survived by his sister, Mildred Rice of Huntsville, KY, his brother, Edmond Ritchie of Ashtabula, Ohio, and several loving nieces and nephews.

Charles honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, dedicating 18 months of service in Vietnam. His patriotism and bravery were hallmarks of his character. After his military service, he built a career as a skilled and respected union carpenter.

Beyond his professional life, Charles was a man of many interests. He loved his dogs, who were his constant companions and brought him immense joy. His passion for carpentry extended into his personal life, where he took pleasure in creating and fixing things with his own hands. Charles found solace in the outdoors, whether he was tending to his garden or meticulously caring for his yard. These simple pleasures were the foundation of a life well-lived, filled with the fruits of his labor and the beauty of nature.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Friday, March 28, 2025 at 1:00pm with Bro. Darryl Dockery officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery where military rights will be presented by the Ohio County AM Vets, serving as pallbearers will be his family and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 9:30am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
