Betty Jean Keown Meredith

Betty Jean Keown Meredith, age 88 of Morgantown, KY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at her residence in Morgantown. Born on Thursday, January 9, 1936, in Butler County, KY, she was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Arthur and Frances Caroline Romans Keown; her devoted husband, Paul Thomas Meredith; her brother, Floyd Keown, and his wife Lena Mae Keown; and her sister, Sherry Keown Webster. Her memory will be forever held in the hearts of those she leaves behind, including her two daughters, Paula Cook and Pam Camplin; her grandchildren, Jayme Cook McWhorter (Nicholas) and Damien Camplin (Tiffany); and her great-grandchildren, Weston Camplin, Chloe Camplin, and Meredith McWhorter. Betty's legacy also lives on through her five brothers, Bobby (Linda), Royce (Brenda), David (Ola), Jimmy, and Dean (Lynn) Keown; her sister, Joanne McKinney (Sug); and several nieces and nephews.

Betty's professional life was marked by an 37-year tenure at Morgantown Bank and Trust, where she began as a cashier and ascended through the ranks to become Vice President. Her roles as HR Officer, Personnel and Operations Officer were a testament to her dedication, work ethic. Betty's commitment to her community was further exemplified by her active membership in the Morgantown First Baptist Church. Beyond her professional and community engagements, Betty's interests painted the picture of a woman who cherished the simple joys of life. She found pleasure in shopping, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and most importantly, spending quality time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 11:00am with Bro. Jeremy McWhorter officiating. Burial will be in the  Cool Springs Cemetery where Damien Camplin, Weston Camplin, Nick McWhorter, Greg Keown, Scott Keown, Kyle Meredith and Jamie Pierce will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International P.O.
