Helena T. Skaggs
Helena T. Skaggs, born on April 21, 1929, in Louisville, Kentucky, has left a legacy of love and laughter as she passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024, at Signature Healthcare of Bowling Green, KY. Helena, remembered for her kindness and wonderful sense of humor, devoted her life to creating joy and nurturing relationships within her family and community.
Throughout her life, Helena was the cornerstone of her family, a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two cherished children, April Johnson (Gary) of Morgantown, KY, and Kevin Skaggs (Mary Jane) of Murfreesboro, TN. Helena's spirit of joy and generosity will live on through her five adoring grandchildren, Jeff Grubb of Morgantown, KY, Jason Grubb of Morgantown, KY, and Brandon Johnson of Morgantown, KY, Jessica Wheeler (Jimmy) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kristin Skaggs of Los Angeles, CA, as well as her nine great-grandchildren who were the light of her life: Raven Chester of Morgantown, KY, Brandon Grubb of Morgantown, KY, Jason Tyler Grubb of Louisville, KY, Kali Grubb of Morgantown, KY, Treston Johnson of Morgantown, KY, Julianne Wheeler of Murfreesboro, TN, James Wheeler of Murfreesboro, TN, Anaiah Wheeler of Murfreesboro, TN, and Annabelle of Murfreesboro, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Helena is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Skaggs, her parents; Clarence and Clara Brandt Theiler, one son, Dale Skaggs, two sisters and two brothers.
Helena's professional life was marked by her long-standing tenure with South Central Bell, where she was not only a reliable worker but also a beloved colleague. Her commitment to her faith was unwavering, as she was an active and devoted member of the Catholic Church, living her beliefs through acts of service and kindness.
Those who knew Helena will recall her abounding warmth; she treasured the simple pleasure of spending time with her family and took every opportunity to share moments of happiness with them. Additionally, her furry companion Anne, had a special place in her heart and was a constant source of comfort and friendship to her.
All services are private and under the direction of the Jones Funeral Chapel. A private entombment will be held at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville, KY.
