Lady Bears edge Edmonson County for district win

BROWNSVLLLE - Determined Butler County edged homestanding Edmonson County 66-65 in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Monday, March 1. 

The Lady Bears battled back to win after Edmonson County led 41-24 at halftime. 

Prior to faltering, Edmonson County led 60-46 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

Butler County shot 41.9 percent (26-of-62) from the field in the win. The Lady Bears were 4-of-14 from 3-point range.

Butler County finished 10-of-28  from the free throw line.

Taylin Clark led Butler County with a double-double, scoring 24 points and pulling down a game-high 21 rebounds.

Joining Clark in double figures in scoring, Jaelyn Taylor netted 14 points.

Nearly reaching double figures, Taylor Leach scored nine points for the Lady Bears. 

Rounding out Butler County's individual scoring, Jenna Phelps and Gracie Cardwell tossed in seven points apiece while Graci Leach added five points. 

Edmonson County shot 45.6 percent (26-of-57) from the field. The Lady Cats were 7-of-8 from 3-point range, shooting 87.5 percent beyond the arc.

Edmonson County finished 6-of-16 from the free throw line. 

Katie Lindsey poured in a game-high 29 points to lead Edmonson County. 

Accompanying Lindsey in double figures for Edmonson County, Macie Combs contributed 15 points and Paige Wolfe added 10 points.

Rounding out Edmonson County's individual scoring, Lily Jane Vincent (seven points), Shea VanMeter (three points) and Hallie Cassidy (one point) chipped in offensively. 

VanMeter paced Edmonson County inside, pulling down nine rebounds.
