Carolyn Sue Young

Early Monday morning, January 1st, Carolyn "Sue" Young went home to join our heavenly father. She was the only child of Velva Mae Dunn Smith and John Alfred Smith of Bowling Green, KY and the devoted wife of Elbert E. Young who preceded her in death. She leaves behind four children, John Mark Young of Washington, DC, Cynthia Y. Jones, (Barry) Alvaton, KY, Elecia Mae Young Duke, (Gary) Severn, MD, Cristopher Andrew Young, Dacula, GA. Six grandchildren, Jonathan Jones, (Ashley), Brie Golliher, (Brad), Amanda Nicholson, (Keith), Eli, Becca, and Olivia Young. Three great-grandchildren, Brady and Bryce Golliher, and Henley Jones and several cousins and many friends. She served as a military wife of a career Navy serviceman and traveled the world caring for her family. She was a woman of strong Christian faith and enjoyed worshipping at First Baptist Church of Bowling Green and Bethany Baptist of Alvaton. Faith, family and friends were the most important things in her life. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Lovers Lane chapel. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation to Gideon Bibles available at the funeral home, or American Cancer Society, 952 Fairview Ave. #4, Bowling Green, KY.
