Charles "Red" David Cox

Charles "Red" David Cox, 83, of Bowling Green passed away Friday March 24, 2017 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. He was born in Warren County on April 1, 1933 to the late John Henry and Ruby Cox. Red was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca Ann Cox, sister Charlene Kingsley, 3 brothers Freddie, Darrell and Johnny Cox.

Red began his career working in restaurants at the age of fourteen; he went on to work at the Burger Basket for over 30 years. In 1988 he and his wife Becky opened Red's Coach & Table Restaurant.

He was an avid drag racing owner and fan. Red and his racing partner Dickie won many high profile races.

Red enjoyed spending time with his children at the ball fields coaching and cheering them on. He was a member of the Martha's Chapel Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Sherry Cox Belcher (Gary) of Smiths Grove, two sons, David Cox of Smiths Grove and Chris Cox (Laura) of Bowling Green, sister in-law, Patricia Cox,  of Morgantown, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also Jewell Cassady; who he thought of as a sister.

Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Tuesday March 28, 2017 at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial to follow in Martha's Chapel Church Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
