Monita Gale Layton, 69 of Hartford, Ky. passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Gale was born September 26, 1947, in Grayson County Kentucky to the late Laymond D. and Tonita Cooper Embry who survives. She was a member of Big Muddy Missionary Baptist Church and retired from the Green River Boys Camp. Other than her father she is preceded in death by her husband Eldon Doyle Dockery.
Monita Gale Layton is survived by her husband Joe Layton of Hartford, Kentucky; two sons Kit Dockery (Robyn) Chickamauga, Georgia and Phillip Dockery of New York, NY; two daughters April West (Tom) of Hermitage, TN and Sarah Ingram McKee (Bobby) of Morgantown, Ky.; step daughter Stacy Patrick (Tommy) of Livermore, Ky.; step son Barry Layton (Melissa) of Brentwood, TN; mother Tonita Embry of Morgantown, Ky.; two sisters Barbara Kay Lawrence of Morgantown, Ky. and Judy Ross of Bowling Green, Ky.; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Friday, January 20, 2017, at 1:00 pm with Bro. Ronnie Forrest officiating.
Burial will be in the Chapel Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am until funeral time at 1:00 pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel. Please share any photos, memories, condolences or light a candle in memory of Gale at www.jonesfuneralchapel.com
