Douglas Melvin Patton

Douglas Melvin Patton, 91, of  Rochester, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the  Medical Center in Bowling Green.  He was born April 23,1923  in Muhlenberg County  to the late Ewell Alvis and Victoria Patton.  He retired from TVA and was also a retired Merchant Marine and served in the Army for 3 years - he saw the world by ship.  He loved his family, his dog Booger,  working in his yard and was an avid NASCAR and football fan, with a fondness for Ford Thunderbirds.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Victoria Patton; one brother, Alvis, and one sister, Jeanette.

He  is survived by his wife Thelma "Tot" Patton; two daughters, Connie Drake and husband Terry; and Tammy Patton - all of Rochester; two sons, Charles "Bo" Patton and wife Artie of Rochester; and Mike Patton and wife Cheryl of Central City; ten grandchildren - Misty Drake, Adam Drake, Brittany Miller, Shanda Phelps, Stacy Phelps, Katelyn Patton, Matthew Patton, Brian Mahan and Todd Lee; fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral  service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on  Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Roger Heltsley officiating.  Burial will follow in Rochester Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, December 26, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
