The Butler County Chapter NSDAR held a program on the Courthouse lawn on Wednesday, June 14 in observance of Flag Day. Efforts began as early as 1916 to get Flag Day national observance. Finally, in 1949 President Harry S. Truman signed a Congress-approved Flag Day into law.

What started in 1974 as eight acres, formerly Green River Lock and Dam #4, has grown to 26 acres, the Green River Museum, and two boat ramps on the north and south side of the blueway on the Green River.  Known as the Butler County Park, the dedication ceremony was held on June 3rd.
