Your Opinion Needed on New 4-H Camp Storm Shelter

The West Kentucky 4-H Camp is developing plans to address the establishment of a Storm Shelter/Cabin for the camp in Dawson Springs.  As you may know, the camp does not have an existing structure to use as shelter during times of pending emergencies.  Part of having a great camping experience is to also have a safe experience.  The capacity of camp is approximately 450 campers, staff, and volunteers.  We are exploring the feasibility of constructing a sound structure that would provide adequate shelter in times of inclement weather.

In conjunction with the University of Kentucky, the KY 4-H Foundation, and the Camp Improvement Committee, a design and plan to construct a new facility has been crafted.  The new building will have two floors with the lower consisting of a 2400 sq. ft storm shelter and the upper section of equal space to contain 2 cabins that sleep 24 each with restrooms and showers.

A generous gift from Farm Credit Mid-America of $50,000 has already been secured with another $25,000 available as matching dollars.  Your help is currently needed to determine the best possible move to make and the type of fund-raising capability available in West Kentucky. We feel it is prudent to engage as many people as possible in the discussion and planning process.

By taking this Pre-Campaign Survey, you are not being solicited for funds, nor will you be asked for a commitment of any kind.  This Survey is designed to seek only your opinion.  Your responses will be confidential.
