WLBQ Radio Auction Nets $8,879 for Boys & Girls Club

UPDATE: The Annual Boys & Girls Club’s Radio Auction was held on Saturday in the lobby of Morgantown Bank & Trust.  Bruce White and Tom Jones hit the air waves on WLBQ 1570 AM at 8:00am and the phones started ringing.  By the end of the auction the grand total raised was $8,879.

“We want to say thank you to everyone that donated items, worked the auction, and called in bids.  The community response has been overwhelming,” said Bruce White, Boys & Girls Club Director.

The money will be used for the day-to-day operations of the Club.

11/20/13: It's a new date but the same quality event for the 2013 Butler County Boys and Girls Club Radio Auction.  Moved from its traditional date on the first Saturday in December, this year's radio auction will be Saturday, November 23.
According to organizers, the date of the event was moved so as to not conflict with the annual Christmas Parade.  Some felt that the many activities associated with the parade made it harder for them to participate in the radio auction.
Announcers will kick off the live event at 8 a.m. on WLBQ 1570 AM from the lobby of Morgantown Bank and Trust.  Listeners can also live stream the audio from Beech Tree News (www.beechtreenews.com).  The auction will continue until all items are sold.
Last year's event raised approximately $8,500 for the local Boys and Girls Club.
Items to be auctioned include a John Calipari signed basketball, UK basketball tickets, a variety of gift certificates, a country ham, Tennessee Titans' tickets, plenty of baked goods, a Rhino Bed liner, front end alighment, coffe, candy, drinks, oil, Ray-Ban sunglasses, Case knives, a Daily News subscription, tanning, hair cuts, and much more.
All money raised will directly benefit the Boys and Girls Club and will help fund day-to-day operations.
