White signs to play college softball at Midway University
Another Butler County High School softball player will soon be joining the ranks of Bears' players in continuing her softball career in college. Senior catcher Cheyenne White signed a NAIA letter-of-intent on Wednesday, January 11, to play college softball at Midway University. The signing ceremony was held at the BCHS Media Center and was attended by Midway Head Coach Tripp Swisher, the BCHS softball coaching staff, school officials, her teammates, and a host of family and friends.
BCHS Athletics' Director Brandon Embry welcomed those in attendance and praised White for her commitment and dedication.
"Cheyenne has worked hard these last four years - in softball, basketball and in academics," said Embry.
Coach Swisher said it was an "honor and privilege" to be signing White.

"We're excited to have Cheyenne attend Midway. She has athleticism, is coachable, has a good attitude, and a fire and hunger to play and improve," said Swisher. "She has paid the price to play at the next level."
The coach also indicated that he is happy to have a "Butler County connection" when it comes to softball. White will make the second Butler County softball player to attend Midway. College junior Lynsie Clark (BCHS Class of 2014) transferred to Midway this past year after St. Catharine's College closed.
Butler County head coach John Embry also spoke highly of Cheyenne and all that she has been able to achieve during her high school career.

"Cheyenne may be one of the most improved players we've had come through Butler County and the progress she's made from the 7th grade on has been phenomenal," said Embry. "Combining her athleticism, strong work ethic, love of the game and desire to be good, Cheyenne has developed into an outstanding player. I am extremely proud of all she's accomplished and I am confident that success will continue at the college level."
James White, Cheyenne's dad and an assistant middle school softball coach, complimented the coaching staff for teaching her the fundamentals of the game and expressed his gratitude to both the softball and basketball coaches who have helped her over the years.
