On behalf of the faculty and staff at BCMS, welcome to the 2013-2014 school year. To those students and parents who are new to BCMS, we extend an especially warm welcome to you as your educational journey continues.  A new school year is an exciting time and the faculty and staff at BCMS is working hard to ensure that every student has a positive and productive start.  Our goal is to provide students with learning experiences that will allow them to grow and plan for their future.

Involvement is a very critical factor to a student’s success.  We encourage parents to be as involved as possible in their child’s education.  To the students, we ask that you reflect on your goals and strive not only to pursue personal excellence, but also to demonstrate respect, integrity, and support for one another.  We are here to support and encourage you as you explore different possibilities and grow as learners.

I would also like to take this opportunity to also welcome 4 additions to our staff.  We are very excited about the prospects of working with these individuals. 

Monica Crawford will be teaching Art/Drama part time at BCMS this school year. She has 3 years experience working in the Bowling Green School System as an instructional assistant. She also did her student teaching through Warren County School System and did part of her student teaching overseas in Spain.  She is excited about having the opportunity to work with our many gifted art/drama students at BCMS.

Barry Frazier will be teaching science and social studies at BCMS this school year. He will be replacing Mrs. Teresa Fentress who retired at the end of last year.  Barry has worked with students in various capacities and will be a great addition to our staff.

Andy Fuller comes back to BCMS after spending a year splitting time between BCHS and MES.  Andy will be teaching in our 8th grade Special Education department this year. He is also heavily involved in various athletic programs in the district.  We are excited to have Andy back in the BCMS family.

Audrey Pharris will split her time teaching speech between BCMS and MES.  This will be her second year teaching speech for Butler County School System. She brings a lot of love and energy to her job.

In regards to the facilities, our campus looks great. Our tremendous custodial staff has been hard at work all summer preparing the school for the children’s return. A special thanks to Dale, David, Melissa, and Sherry for all their hard work and dedication to the students of Butler County.

Jump Start for our sixth grade students will be August 1st from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Buses will be running from different locations throughout the county (more details to come). We encourage all sixth graders to attend.  We will be doing enrollments on that day for any students who have moved into our district. We will also be having an open house for sixth grade parents and students that night at 6:30 p.m.  Just a reminder to all parents, we do post our newsletters and other information on our school website each Monday. Our website can easily be accessed through our district website at http://www.butlerschools.net/.

BCMS is a Title I school.  This means we receive money from the federal government in order to provide additional services in math and reading.  We need feedback on the program from parents.  Therefore, we would like to ask parents to go to www.surveymonkey.com/s/FBQHSPQ and take a Title I survey for our school.  We appreciate you taking the time to fill out the survey.  Paper copies of the survey can also be picked up at BCMS.
