VFW Ladies Auxiliary's Memorial Day Program

Over 300 people gathered on the Butler County courthouse lawn on Monday to honor the men and women who sacrificed for our freedoms.

Red, white and blue clothing was a common sight at the event hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 5837.  After a welcome from Lynda Knight, the presentation of colors by the Butler County High School NJROTC, Jennifer Odle led the group in the pledge. Don Thomason performed the National Anthem and prayer was given by Bro. Roger Taylor of Aberdeen Baptist Church.

Jane Eaton-Henderson, Regent of the Butler County Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, spoke of the Vietnam War 50th Commemorative Anniversary.  Elaine Daugherty, Regent of the Green River Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, spoke about Memorial Day.  Lydia Bratcher performed, Amazing Grace, accompanied by Kirk Johnson.

“We are proud to announce we have added 193 names/bricks to the Walls of Honor, and hope to have hundred more with the next order,” said Knight.

The laying of the wreath and Taps performed by Doug Odle concluded the program.
