Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary Post 5837

VFW post and auxiliary post 5837 salute Robert “Doc” Daughtery as the commander of the of the department of Kentucky and is also a resident of Butler County.

Doc was born in March 1947 in Springfield, Illinois, graduated high school Morrisonville, Illinois and retired from Bridgestone/Firestone Tire.

He served 27 years in the United States Air Force 1965-1992.  He saw combat in Vietnam, Desert Shield/Storm, attended the NCO Academy and Sr. NCO Academy.  Earned an associates degree Community College Air Force, 376th Strategic Air Command-Sr Enlisted Advisor; 18th Wing Sr. Enlisted Advisor; 313th Air Division, Sr. Enlisted Advisor.

Doc is a 50+ year veteran of foreign wars joining in 1968.  He is a life member of Bowling Green post 1298 and was an all state commander.  Also served as Sr. Vice and Jr. Vice of 1298 and 5th District Commander for 2 years; Also, as Sr. and Jr. Vice Commander of the 5th District.

He is a member of the American Legion, DAV, Amvets, Military Order of the Cooties, life member of VFW National Children’s Home, VFW Gold Legacy and NCO Association.

Doc is married to Barbara Blunk and they reside in Morgantown, KY.

They have 6 children: Sherie, Shannon, Amanda, Destinee, Gavin, and Rob (stationed Kings Bay, Georgia) 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
