Upgrades to the William H. Natcher Parkway to begin in Warren County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (July 3, 2018) – The modernization upgrades to turn the William H. Natcher Parkway into an Interstate 65 Spur are expected to begin Monday, July 9 for the Warren County section. Major traffic impacts expected until the end of the year.

The Natcher Parkway will be down to one lane in both directions between exit 6 at US 31-W (Nashville Road) and exit 7 US 68 (Russellville Road). Motorists need to be aware the northbound entrance ramp to the Natcher Parkway at US 31-W and the southbound entrance ramp to the Natcher Parkway from US 68 will be a stop condition. Motorists will have to stop on the entrance ramp before entering the parkway. This is a major change and motorists need to use caution. Motorists are urged to allot a significant amount of extra travel time or seek alternate route.

The speed zone in this area will be reduced to 55 mph and wide loads will be restricted.

The project begins with overlays on the Natcher Parkway bridge over the railroad track and the bridge over US 68. Once the overlays are completed, it is expected the widening of the bridge over the railroad will begin. The widening of the bridge allows the extension of the entrance ramp from US 31-W to be built.

Multiple ramps at both interchanges will have extensions added. In addition to the ramp extensions, upgrades in guardrail, lighting and bridge wall components will also be done. Scotty’s Contracting & Stone LLC was awarded the contract for Butler and Warren Counties on June 7 in the amount of $12,882,679.09.

The entire corridor of the Natcher Parkway will be upgraded to an I-65 Spur. There are about 72 miles that makeup the entire Natcher Parkway that connects Bowling Green and Owensboro. The other sections reside in Ohio and Daviess County in District 2.
