Ty Burden signs with Brescia University Baseball

Ty Burden has signed to play baseball at Brescia University in Owensboro, Ky.

Ty, a Senior at Butler County High School,  played baseball through his middle school and high school careers. Ty came on strong for the Bears as a Jr. with a .316 average and a .375 on-base percentage and also slugged .368 at the plate. Ty also had a solid season on the mound for the Bears with 51 1/3 innings pitched with a 2.86 ERA with 41 Strikeouts.
Burden reached out to the Brescia coaches who invited him to some workouts during which Burden impressed the staff at Brescia.
Head coach for Brescia Andrew Dickson who was present at Ty's signing at the BCHS field house said: " Ty's versatility is one thing we really liked about Ty he can play outfield has good speed and athleticism and can also pitch some for us as well."
Butler County Head Baseball Coach Keith Butler and Assistant Jay Shockley both spoke during Ty's signing ceremony. Shockley praised Ty's competitive drive saying "he's a kid with a motor that never stops."
Ty's competitive drive served him well as he overcame a shoulder injury which required surgery going into his freshman season. The injury caused Ty to miss that season obviously but never gave up on his dream of playing college baseball. Ty rehabbed and worked extremely hard to get back healthy to play the game he loves.
Ty is entering his Sr Baseball season at BCHS. Ty and the Bears are looking to repeat as 12th district champions as they captured that title last season. The Bears start their season this week, and the home opener is Thursday vs. Dawson Springs. Good Luck to the Bears and Ty as they embark on the season.
