Tuck named new principal at BCMS
A familiar face will soon be taking the reins at Butler County Middle School as Assistant Principal Robert Tuck has been named the school's new principal. Tuck will replace Jeff Jennings, who was recently tapped as the new principal at North Butler Elementary.
Tuck, longtime head football coach at Butler County High School, entered the administrative ranks four years ago as assistant principal at BCMS under Jennings. Tuck has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies (7-12) and a Masters of Arts in Education Instructional Leadership (School Principal - All Grades) from Western Kentucky University
He is married to Heather Brooks Tuck, a nurse for Lifeline in Morgantown. They have a daughter, Raegan. Tuck taught Social Studies for 10 years at Butler County High School, where he served as head football coach, head softball coach and assistant basketball coach. He was also a member of the Morgantown City Council from 1999-2002.
"I am grateful to have the opportunity to be the new principal of BCMS. I want to thank the site base council for giving me this opportunity," said Tuck, in an email to staff earlier today.
Tuck says he believes the middle school is moving in the right direction and he is excited to be a part of it.
"I am eager to see our school continue to move forward. There has been a lot of challenges that have come our way over the last few years. However, this staff has met them head on in an effort to do what is best for our students," said Tuck.
One of the first jobs facing Tuck as the new principal will be to hire his replacement. Tuck, who is ultimately responsible for the hiring of an assistant principal, indicated that he intends to work closely with the school's site-based decision making council as the process unfolds.
"I will be talking with site base and setting up a committee to help me select an assistant principal. I encourage feedback as we search for the best fit for our school," added Tuck.
Tuck will officially begin his new position on July 1.
