Tractor-trailer overturns on Natcher on-ramp

UPDATE: A tractor-trailer overturned on the William Natcher Parkway after entering the south-bound ramp from HWY 231 just before noon on Thursday. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Greg Upchurch, was hauling aluminum ingots from Aleris for J & S Trucking out of Rockport, Indiana. All of the ingots being carried were thrown from the bed of the trailer. Ingots weigh between 1,800 and 2,000 pounds on average. According to authorities, nearly all of the diesel fuel in the tank leaked out and had to be cleaned up.

Upchurch received treatment for minor lacerations at the scene and was transported via ambulance to the Medical Center in Bowling Green. The on-ramp was closed for several hours while crews removed the tractor-trailer, the ingots, and cleaned up the fuel spill.

Emergency personnel responding to the scene were Morgantown City Police Sergeant Andy Gidcumb, Butler County EMS Director Brian McKinney, Butler County Emergency Management Director Terry Hunt, Butler County EMS, and Butler County Rescue Squad. Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement also responded to the scene.
