Tiffany Hampton: Life in Logansport

The last holiday of this year is upon us. I, like many others, reflect back make mental notes of how to improve in the new year ahead. New Years resolutions are fun, exciting, and inspirational to talk about. We want to eat less, love more...spend less, save more and so on. So often I think we start out with great intentions and then somewhere along the way we stop. We miss exercising one day or we go over budget. At that moment we will often throw in the towel. We have to ask our self this question, "How much did that resolution really mean to us if one mistake causes us to quit?"

Failure and mistakes happen everyday to everyone. Likewise, everyday can be a day for setting goals and making new resolutions. So many times in my own life I have said, "Starting Monday......" Many Mondays have passed me by. Good intentions are only that if we don't put them to work.

I challenge you, and myself, to look at 2012 as 365 individual days. You eat an elephant one bite at a time. In the year ahead, take it one day at a time. Set your goals and resolutions a day at a time if that's what it takes. Small steps are easier to take than giant leaps. If you fall down, don't stay down. Rise up and keep stepping. Happy New Year!
