Tiffany Hampton: Life in Logansport

Tiffany Hampton and son Tucker

Have you ever had one of those moments when you literally try to count your blessings.  When you really begin to think of all the blessings in your life, it's overwhelming!  Everyday on the news we hear of people, families, communities, and countries who are living with devastating circumstances.  Families losing loved ones, families starving, families losing their homes, and the list goes on and on.

In my beauty shop, I have a primitive sign that says, "The most important things in life aren't things."  That statement holds so much truth and power. Of course, we should be thankful for our homes, cars, clothes, food, etc.  Even more so, we should be thankful for moments, time, memories, smells, sounds, movement and touch.

Earlier this year my grandma passed away.  It's been one of the hardest things I've had to endure in my life.  Words can't be spoken to express how thankful I am for all the "moments" I shared with her in my 31 years …  the "time" I spent with her in her last days...and the "memories" I can carry with me still today...the "smells" that still remind me of her..."being able to hear the "sound" of her voice until she passed...the "movement" and "touch" of here hand in mine.  As you see, none of these blessing are "things."  Each of them are never to be replaced, because I carry them in my heart daily.

I encourage you this Thanksgiving season to count your blessings! Allow your heart to be softened so that wonderful memories will be etched into it forever.  Hug your loved ones. Share your thankfulness around the dinner table.  Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Every word is so true and how often we forget to stop and think how thankful we are for our memories with family. I hope we made some memories on Friday night at our Thanksgiving dinner.
THANKS TIFFANY YOU TOUCHED MY HEART.
