Thieves target county property - road department & animal shelter

On August 10th, Butler County Judge-Executive Tim Flener called the Sheriff's office to report several items stolen from the Butler County Road Department. Butler County Sheriff's Deputy Trey Flener arrived at the scene, 462 Boat Factory Road, the Butler County Road Department, and spoke with Road Department Supervisor Johnathan Deweese. According to Deweese, someone took the gate off the hinges and gained access to the property. A Ford F-150 truck hooked to a trailer with two zero-turn lawn mowers, two weed eaters, one chainsaw, one leaf blower was taken on Saturday morning around 4:48 a.m. Surveillance cameras show a male subject walking across the parking lot, and then approximately 30-40 minutes later, the truck pulls out of the parking lot.

Deweese stated there was also damage to one of the building's doors.

On Sunday, August 16th around 1:00 a.m. the Butler County Animal Shelter also located on Boat Factory Road was the site of another break-in.  Individuals were seen on surveilance cameras entering through the back door.  According to Judge Flener, they cut the lock off the medicine cabinet and took a variety of medications and needles.  The collars and leashes were scattered throughout the facility.  No animals were taken or abused.
