A Thank You from Chief Billy Phelps
To: Mayor Linda Keown, City of Morgantown and its Great Citizens,
I, Billy Phelps, do hereby resign my position as the Chief of Police with the Morgantown Police Department effective June 30, 2012.
It has been an honor to help protect and Defend the citizens of this community, county, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
I have been fortunate enough over the past 24 years to work with a lot of good men who have put their jobs as Police Officers with the City of Morgantown above their own lives.
To ALL of the City Council members past and present: thank you for your continued support of all of the employees of the Morgantown Police Department.
To Mayor Eva Hawes, "THANK YOU" for your leadership and trust.
To the MPD Officers Past and Present, your sacrifice to this community will not be forgotten, I will continue to fight for you and support you in every way possible in the future.
To the Great Citizens of this City, I cannot put into words how honored I am to have been able to "help" in making this community a safer place for all of our children to grow up. Always remember that a City is only as strong as the people who protect it.
Sincerely,
Chief of Police
Billy J. Phelps
Morgantown Police Department
